Help raise money for Japan: MAGFest Auctions

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

I wanted to bring to your attention a selection of gaming related auctions that are taking place in order to raise funds for Japan relief. Auctions so far have included CD’s and merchandise, Personalised Video game remixes and autographs from famous gaming related people (such as Sid Meier who created the Civilization series). There has already been some heavy support by Metroid Metal, such as personalised remixes and swag.

Current auctions include a boxed copy of Earthbound in great condition, and video game remixes from various artists. You can check out the auctions here, and more information can be found on the official Magfest website. 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Red Cross relief aid and is a very worthy charity. So if you want the chance to get your hands on some exclusive merchandise be sure to check them out quick, as this set of auctions will end on April 3rd.

Kind regards to Viking Guitar for bringing this to my attention.

Friday, March 18th, 2011

The Metroid world has been a rather quiet place in recent times, but I thought i’d share this funny Metroid comic I came across by Eric Colossal. I would suggest people check it out here. Fans of the original Metroid will know this feeling all too well..

Be sure to check out his official website for more comics!

Japanese Earthquakes

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

There has been very little Metroid news to report on this week but I felt I should update with my thoughts on the terrible events that are happening in Japan at the moment.

As many people will know, this week saw one of the worst earthquakes to hit Japan in its history. It has caused wide spread destruction and created Tsunamis that have washed away homes and businesses. Nuclear power plants have also suffered due to aftershocks from the quake and many people have died or are missing, presumed dead.

Nintendo have apparently contributed to the aid efforts financially and have also stated that staff are safe and well.

I am deeply saddened by what has happened there and I truly hope that aid gets to those who need it and that Japan recovers from these difficult and challenging times and brings itself back to normality as soon as possible.

If you wish to donate to the cause, you can do so here:

Justin Bailey Adventures: Chapter 3 now available

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Chapter three of our exclusive web comic, The Justin Bailey Adventures” is now available! Be sure to check it out on the comic page now!

On an additional note, I was able to go hands on with Nintendo’s upcoming handheld yesterday, the 3DS! I must say it was mighty impressive and I can only imagine what a new Metroid game on the system could achieve!
