Executive hints at Metroid on Wii U

During an interview for GamerLiveTV, Nintendo executive Scott Moffit gave a slight hint at a possible Metroid game for Nintendo’s new console, Wii U:

With Metroid Blast, you get to enjoy that franchise while the developers are, you know, thinking and imagining what could be possible with Metroid on Wii U.

He also said something similar about The Legend of Zelda series and its Nintendo Land minigame The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, mentioning that “all can’t wait to see what a Zelda experience might look like in high definition” and “there could be a lot of new features added with the GamePad.”

While the quote doesn’t confirm that Metroid is actually in development for Wii U, it shows that the possibility for a new entry is certainly there.

YES! I can’t wait! What is it, and super-awesome without a doubt first-person adventure or a incredible 2.5d game as a sequel to Other M. What is the next game, what is it? The graphics would be totally cool, the gameplay would be legendary, and does the trailer have any bad language, cuz I’m a kid and I shouldn’t be listening to that stuff. Metroid is making a come back!

Probably, though I don’t know how far they’ll push towards Other M after the damage it did to the fanbase. I’m not saying that Other M was bad, but after how some people reacted, it’s become unlikely. It would be awesome if they did another FPA like the primes! :D
