Miyamoto on Metroid Wii U “could be really fantastic”

Richard George, Executive Editor for IGN recently chatted with Shigeru Miyamoto on what he would like to see for Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U system. He indicated two franchises have his attention, one of which is Metroid.

“With Metroid it’s very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U, I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.”

“I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic, there’s certainly a lot that you could do there for that game.”

Miyamoto-san also stated that he would personally like to see Star Fox on Wii U.

If it isn’t Fusion 2 or Dread, they’re doing the series wrong.

This gives me hope for a new game. If a Metroid were to come to the WiiU, I hope Retro eould be developing it.

I agree. Retro has made pretty fantastic games

Too bad it will never happen. Nintendo is too obsessed with Mario and Pokemon, and is totally willing to let the Metroid franchise die.

I did like Metroid Other M a lot (WHY DO YOU GUYS HATE IT?!?), it had impressive gameplay and listen to the game critics! (ign: 8.5/10 Game spot: 8.5/10 and worth playing:9/10) But I was also impressed the awesome Retro gave us Metroid Prime 3 and the Trilogy. I BEG NINTENDO TO ALLOW RETRO TO CREATE A LEGENDARY FUTURE METROID FOR WII U! And don’t let it be a rip-off only focusing on HD graphics, I WANT AMAZING GAMEPLAY SUITED FOR THE WII U GAMEPAD IF NOT (AND YOU DO A DUMD THING LIKE FOCUS ON GRAPHICS) THEN MY ANGER IS ONE LEGEND YOU WON’T FORGET!!!

I honestly think that a version of Metroid should be made for 3DS as well (and yes, make it appropriate for the controls). Kid Icarus for instance was a decent game, but it is hard to really focus on controlling the character when so much of the action is dependant on the touch screen. I loved it back when Metroid Prime came out for Gamecube. Those controls were fun and easy to work with. Let’s have a Metroid game for the 3DS that feel natural and actually have less emphasis on using the touch pad to control Samus.

Derkaness, I agree cause I saw that Miyamato is looking more forward to Starfox. If Nintendo burns the Metroid Franchise, then then are just the most selfish of game companies…
