Metroid coming for Japanese 3DS Virtual Console

Nintendo of Japan has announced that the original Famicom Disk System Metroid will be available in the 3DS eShop on February 29th for non-Ambassadors. It will cost 500 yen.

Considering Super Mario Bros. is already available in the American and European eShops, it seems possible that we’ll see the game within the next few weeks. Stay tuned to Shinesparkers for the latest info about it.

Update: Metroid is also available for release on the European eShop in March! No specific date has been announced. Once released, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to update their copy of Metroid NES to use save states, allowing you to save at any point and continue when you wish. This might be helpful to those who become frustrated by Metroid’s difficulty, like me…
