Nintendo’s Katsuya Eguchi is sure Metroid will appear on Wii U

Katsuya Eguchi, a games designer, producer and director for Nintendo famous for his connection with the Animal Crossing series has recently told Kotaku that he is sure there will be a new Metroid release for the upcoming Nintendo Wii U console. Mr. Eguchi created the Battle Mii demo for the system that was shown off at this years E3 and when questioned by Kotaku if he was trying to send a message to fans, he replied:

“I can’t give you any details now,” he said, “but I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information. Maybe the player is looking at the screen but has the information that they need to defeat the enemy in their hands.” Maybe you could hold the Wii controller up to the screen and scan your enemy, I suggested. “You could look through the screen and scan your enemy and find where it’s weakspot is.”

Of course, this is merely a suggestion and no clear proof that a new Metroid game is in development but it’s certainly an interesting concept! How do you think a Metroid game on the Wii U could work?

It would probably work great in any way they use the second screen. Personally I just want to use it for keeping the map in my hands. The map is such a big part of Metroid games. Or maybe you could tap a part of the screen to look at the map. Would also be nice with a small inventory screen or using the screen to command her ship.
